SSC CGL Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 12,256 Posts (Group B & C)

Staff Selection Commission (SSC), has published an official notification at its website for recruitment of Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 posts. This recruitment drive is being conducted for around 12,256 vacancies under various Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ posts in various Ministries, Departments and Government Organizations in India.

The SSC online application process has been started from 21 May 2026 and the candidates can apply online till 22 June 2026. The minimum age limit is 18 years whereas maximum age limit is up to 32 years post wise as on 01 August 2026. Before applying online, candidates should check all eligibility criteria, vacancy details, selection procedure, salary structure and other important information.

SSC CGL Recruitment 2026 — Eligibility Criteria

⇒ Nationality: Indian Citizen / Subject of Nepal / Bhutan / Person of Indian Origin (with eligibility certificate from Government of India in case of Person of Indian Origin)
⇒ Educational Qualification (As on 01.08.2026):

  • Most Posts (Pay Level 4–8): Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with at least 60% in Mathematics at Class 12 level, OR Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the degree subjects.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operation Research, IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Application, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence.
  • Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer (AAO): Bachelor’s Degree; desirable qualifications include CA, CMA, CS, M.Com, MBA (Finance), or Masters in Business Economics.

⇒ Distance/Open Learning Degrees: Recognized if approved by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC for the relevant period. Candidates must produce proof at Document Verification.

How to Apply — Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR)
Visit https://ssc.gov.in and complete your One-Time Registration if you haven’t done so already. Note: OTR generated on the old website (ssc.nic.in) is NOT valid for the new website.

Step 2: Aadhaar Authentication (Recommended)
Opt for Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR to avoid photograph/signature rejection issues and to skip photo-ID requirements at the examination hall.

Step 3: Capture Photograph
The application module will prompt you to capture a live photograph using your device camera. Stand/sit in a well-lit area with a plain background, face directly forward, no cap or spectacles. Do NOT upload a pre-existing photograph.

Step 4: Upload Signature
Signature must be in JPEG/JPG format (10–20 KB) size (6.0 cm × 2.0 cm approximately).

Step 5: Fill in the Application Form
Log in with your OTR credentials and enter accurate personal, educational and category information. Choose your preferred Examination Centres.

Step 6: Review & Confirm
Double-check all entered details in the preview window. Please double check all of the information on your certificates is correct before you submit.

Step 7: Apply
Submit the filled form online.

Step 8: Submit Application Fee
Pay using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Debit Card (Visa/Mastercard/Maestro/RuPay) — ₹100/-. Deadline for payment of fee: 23 June 2026 (11:00 PM). Note: Exempted categories (Women/SC/ST/PwBD/ESM) are required to select the appropriate waiver option.

Step 9: Confirm Save
Take a printout and also retain the filled Application Form and Fee Payment Receipt for future reference.

Step 10: Use Correction Window if Needed
If any correction is required, use the Application Correction Window available from 29 June to 01 July 2026. A correction charge of ₹200/- applies for first correction; ₹500/- for subsequent corrections.

Q1. When is the last date to apply for SSC CGL 2026?
⇒ The last date to submit the online application is 22 June 2026 (11:00 PM). Fee payment deadline: 23 June 2026 (11:00 PM).

Q2. How many vacancies are there in SSC CGL 2026?

Q3. Does SSC CGL 2026 have negative marking?

Q7. Is the Computer Knowledge Test (CKT) mandatory for all posts?
⇒ Yes, Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test) in Paper-I of Tier-II is mandatory for all Posts. It is, however, qualifying. If the post is prescribed with Computer Proficiency as a specific requirement (e.g. ASO in CSS, MEA, AFHQ, Tax Assistant in CBIC/CBDT etc.) then higher qualifying standards will be applicable.

Q8. Is scribe allowed in SSC CGL 2026?
⇒ Yes. Candidates with blindness, Locomotor disability (both arms affected) and cerebral palsy can seek the assistance of a scribe, if so desired. Other PwBD candidates must have Medical Certificate from Government health institution. Candidates with disability of PwD below 40% may also avail this facility as per OM dated 10.08.2022. A compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination also gets to the eligible candidates.
